What is Gastric Outlet Obstruction

Gastric outlet obstruction is a medical condition in which the normal flow of food through the outlet of the stomach is blocked. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including inflammation, tumors, or adhesions in the stomach.

It is usually caused by a narrowing or blockage of the pyloric sphincter, the ring of muscle at the lower end of the stomach that opens and closes to regulate the passage of food from the stomach to the duodenum.
